Lonnie (Lonzo) A. Howerton, 66, Derby KS, passed away August 7, 2021 at his home in Derby, KS. Lonnie was born in Eldorado Springs, MO, the son of Sam Howerton and Mary (Leonard) Howerton. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1972. He was married to Patty Douthit of Odessa, MO. Lonnie worked for Sutherland Lumber for 45 years, transfering to Wichita in 1980 and retiring in 2020. He enjoyed decades long friendships with many of his customers. Lonnie loved and was loved by his family and friends. He had a big heart, a unique sense of humor and a special place in his heart for old folks, little children and his cat Knucklehead.
He is survived by his wife Patty, daughters Jennifer Bailey and Sarah Groth (Tyler), both of Mulvane KS. Grandchildren Lillian Groth, Easton Groth, Julianna Bailey and Jackson Bailey all of Mulvane, his mother Mary Howerton, Blue Springs MO, brother Ronnie Howerton (Donna), Odessa, MO, sister Connie Sanders Mayview, MO, brother in law Jim Douthit (Demarius) San Antonio TX, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, his father in law and mother in law Merle and Dorothy Douthit and brothers in law Mike Douthit and Jeff Sanders.
