Lloyd Lee Ott

Lloyd Lee Ott, age 88, peacefully passed away Friday, December 29, 2017. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, FL and Vera (Bailey) Ott; three brothers, Louie, Lester, and Duane; three sisters, Pauline Kepner, Janice Lowe and Boots Ott. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Erna; three daughters, Susan (Dan) Heasley, Peggy (Glen) Basler, and Debra (Dustin) Beeson; six grandchildren, Aimee (Ryan), Philip (Kristen), Erin, Andrew (Alyssa), Brandon, and Josh; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Jackson; two brothers, Gail and Gary; and one sister, Janie. Lloyd was born January 7, 1929 in Rago, Kansas. He was the third child of FL and Vera Ott. Lloyd attended Raymond, Adams, and Belmont Public Schools; graduating in 1947. Lloyd married the love of his life, Erna (Stucky) on August 6, 1950. Lloyd served in the US Army during the Korean War, 1951 to 1953. Upon returning from Korea, Lloyd attended Friends University earning a BS in Science and later Pittsburg State University earning a Master’s of Science. He taught industrial arts in USD 259 for 31 years. Lloyd had three great passions in his life: his faith, his family, and fun. Lloyd accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1952. He faithfully served on the church boards of Faith Chapel and Colonial Heights Assembly of God in Wichita, Kansas. Lloyd also served on the World Mission Board of the Assembly of God, Springfield, Missouri, for 4 years. Lloyd was often referred to as a “friend to missionaries.” Lloyd was a committed husband, father, papa, and “Big” papa. Family trips to the lake or weekend trips to visit family were common. He was very committed to seeing that his family all got a college education. He sent his wife, and three daughters to Wichita State University. Lloyd was a private pilot and loved flying. Lloyd also loved water skiing and cars. After retiring in 1989, he owned and operated Ott Auto Sales in Cheney, Kansas. Lloyd loved to travel. In his lifetime he visited all the continents of the world except Antarctica. Many of his trips were “vacations with a purpose”, centering around missions. Services were held Tuesday, January 2 at Colonial Heights Assembly of God, 5200 S. Broadway, Wichita. A memorial has been established through Colonial Heights Assembly of God for the benefit of World Missions.
