It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda S. Nett, age 81, on May 18, 2024. Born in Oklahoma, on January 8, 1943, Linda was a pillar of strength and joy to her family and community in Haysville, Kansas.
Linda’s life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family. She was married to Gaylan Nett, Sr. for 62 remarkable years until his passing. Together, they managed a successful building and real estate business and enjoyed the thrills of horse racing at their ranch. Linda was also a steadfast supporter of her children’s diverse interests in baseball, gymnastics, boxing, and wrestling, and she loved watching sporting events on TV.
Known affectionately as a “Professional Grandmother” by her husband, Linda took immense pride in nurturing her four children, ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Her family celebrations and karaoke performances were legendary, filling their home with laughter and love.
Later in life, Linda pursued higher education, earning her college degree in her fifties and enriching young minds as a substitute teacher. Her resilience and spirit were inspirations to many.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gaylan Sr.; her parents, Park and Delphine Hansford; and her sister, Colleen Epperson. She leaves behind a loving family: daughters Kris Berg (Steve) of Peck, KS, Kari Bitler (Shawn) of Haysville, KS; sons Mickey Nett (Treasure) of Wichita, KS, and Gaylan Nett, Jr. (Melody) of Haysville, KS; along with her cherished grandchildren Sara Nett (Juli), Ryan Nett (Randa), Cody Bitler (Mari), Samantha Bitler, Cooper Bitler, Alysha Nett (Mike), Taylor Nett (Bradon), Parker Berg (Aryn), Connor Berg and Savannah Skyy along with nine great-grandchildren Annabelle, Emmalyn, Thatcher, Nakoa, Landon, Trista, Asher, Ani and Colbie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to Linda's heart. Services are entrusted to Smith Mortuary Thursday May 23rd, 2024 at 1:00 pm, where friends and family are invited to celebrate Linda’s remarkable life.
Linda’s legacy of love, and support will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
