Linda Annette Holbrook

Linda "Annette" Holbrook, 76, passed away September 23, 2026.

Annette was born on September 21, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas, to Elmer and Ruth (Gilbert) Callaway. She was their only child and grew up in Belle Plaine, Kansas, where she attended school. During her high school years she played in the band and was a batonist during football seasons and other special events. Following her graduation she embarked on technical training and practiced as a radiology technician.

On January 1971, Annette married the love of her life, Rick Holbrook, and moved to Manhattan, Kansas while Rick completed his education at Kansas State University, then they both found employment in Wichita, Kansas. Following the birth of her second child, she took a number of years off as a full-time mother and homemaker. Once Carey and Brian were through elementary school, she took additional training and resumed her career in radiology until retirement.

In January of 2026, Annette was diagnosed with stage IVc cancer, and commenced with chemo-therapy until her passing.

Annette devoted her life to her family and professional career. She loved gardening, traveling, camping, volunteer work at Church, United Methodist Open Door, leading volunteer (UMVIM) work teams, and was a longtime PEO member of Chapter GE. She cherished making memories with those she loved; countless hours were spent at school events, gymnastics and swim meets, football and baseball games. Most of all she loved time spent on the beaches with her daughter's family in South Carolina, the Rocky Mountains with her son's family in Colorado, and her latter years of rural life with her husband in Kansas.

Annette is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Rick Holbrook; her daughter Carey (Dan) Divilbiss of Greenwood, South Carolina, her son Brian (Lacy) Holbrook of Leadville, Colorado; six grandchildren, Jace, Joci and Henry Holbrook, and Max, Ruth and Olive Divilbiss. Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Elmer Callaway.
