Lilly Sue (Humbolt)Turner, was born February 20, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas and was called back to the Lord’s presence on September 6, 2015. Her parents were Clifford Ivan Humbolt and Vera Pearl (Barker) Humbolt. Both parents and her brother, Howard Humbolt, precede her in death. Lilly grew up on the family farm northeast of Mulvane. Her father was born on that farm and lived there all his life growing wheat and raising cattle. In his youth, he was an accomplished horseman who designed and built horse-drawn carts and buggies. Lilly loved horses all her life and after her parents passed on, she continued to raise cattle on the farm. She continued to grow wheat and soybeans with the help of her Uncle Lloyd and his sons. Her husband, Larry and son Troy, also helped. Lilly’s love and devotion to her family developed during her childhood and teen years spent with her mother, cousins, family and friends. Her fondest memories and best reminiscences involved weekly sleepovers and visits between family and friends, get-togethers at harvest time with the family, holiday festivities and family reunions. In 1973, she married Larry Turner of Mulvane. Larry had two children, Michael and Rhonda from a previous marriage. Lilly and Larry had two more children, Tricia and Troy. Lilly spent the rest of her life loving, teaching and helping her four children and their offspring, as well as dozens of cousins, neighbors and childhood friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry; son Michael and wife Linda of Mulvane; daughters, Tricia Brown and husband Thomas of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; and Rhonda Lewis of Fresno, California; and son Troy of Mulvane; sister, Bertha Rhodes of Udall, Kansas; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; 3 grandnieces; 1 grand nephew.
