Lillian Belle Denton

Lillian Bell (Woods) Denton, 91, devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, departed life on April 19, 2016. She was born in Chester, Arkansas on October 17, 1924, the daughter of Fred and Josephine Sharrai Woods. Lillian graduated from Mountainburg High School. On February 23, 1946,she and Dale K. Denton were united in marriage in Van Buren, Arkansas where they started their family. They moved to Tulsa and then Wichita where she has lived for the past 65 years. For many years, she worked in the contract post office at Gessler's Drug Store on West Douglas Street and then at the contract station downtown at Fourth National Bank. Lillian was active in her church, first at Bethel United Brethren and then Mt. Olivet United Methodist. Her quilting, crocheting, and embroidery are many pieces of her handi-work, now treasured keepsakes by family and friends. She also loved to cook, go to estate sales, travel, and was an avid reader. Preceding her in death is her husband, Dale; her parents and 8 siblings. Survivors include her sons, Dale Jr. and wife Debbie, Jacob and wife Victoria, William and wife Wei; daughter, Joyce Sinclair and husband Ron; grandchildren, Jennifer, Alicia (Jon), Gabe, Patrick (Krista), Lindsey (Andrew), Geena and Christopher; step-grandchildren, Shawn, Liz (Jason), Jeremy (Annie) and Tara; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Harrison, Brendan, Denton, Carter, Timothy, Avery, Isaiah, Lilli (her namesake), Evie, Joseph, Lucy, June, and Heidi; step-great-grandchildren, Jordan (Nick), Riley, Gabbi, Kingston, Margaret, Kataleya; great-great grandchild, Rylee; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Lillian will be lovingly missed by all who knew her. Viewing: 1-6pm Friday, April 29, 2016 at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca. Funeral service: 2pm Saturday, April 30, 2016, Presbyterian Manor Chapel, 4700 W. 13th. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, 6231 W. 47th South, Wichita.
