Depperschmidt, Lester “Les” E., 78, passed away on November 24, 2025. He was born in Quinter, Kansas to Al and Tillie Depperschmidt on February 13, 1947, and raised in Park, Kansas. He was a humble man, but was extremely proud to be a loving husband, father, Papa, brother and friend to many.
Les’ faith, family and friends, in that order, were the pillars of his life. Les will be remembered for his quick wit, welcoming smile, handshake, gentle heart and giving spirit. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, endless card games, numerous sports - most importantly his grandkids’ sporting events.
Les served as an active member at St. Mary Catholic church and community.
On June 8, 1968, Les married Connie (Kinderknecht) in Collyer, Kansas. They were blessed with three children, Tina, Todd and Tracie.
Les started his career at Southwestern Bell, now known as AT&T, in 1968. During his 50 years with the company, he held various roles before his retirement in 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Al & Tillie, siblings, Gerald (Marge) Depperschmidt, Cletus (Mary) Depperschmidt, Marvin Depperschmidt, Kathleen (Wayne) Woerpel, Marilyn (Duane) Heble and Linda Waddell, niece, Brenda Heble and nephew David Depperchmidt.
Les is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie; children, Tina (Tom) Albers of Hays, Kansas, Todd (Theresa) Depperschmidt of Mansfield, Ohio, and Tracie (Brad) Shelton of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Mackenzie (Kris) Neuhauser, Kord (Amber), Adyson, Brenlynn and Brogan Albers; Olivia, Jacob, Jack and Alex Depperschmidt; Lakin, Lexie and Luke Shelton. Great-grandchildren, Kolson, Blayke, Kambell and Paisyn; siblings, Ken (Diane) Depperschmidt; sibling-in-laws, Norma Depperschmidt and Pat Waddell.
Visitation will be held from 4-6:30 pm with Rosary at 6:30pm on Friday, November 28, 2025, both at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2300 E. Meadowlark Rd., Derby, Kansas 67037. Funeral Mass is Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church.
