Leo Eugene Beat

Leo E. Beat, 84, died November 27, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.


He was born Jan 10, 1937, in Murdock, Kansas, the son of Henry L. and Barbara M. Heitz Beat.


Leo grew up on the family farm and then served in the US Army. A longtime parishioner of St Joseph Parish in Wichita, he was also active in the Knights of Columbus. He began his career as a welder at Watkins Steel and then worked for over 20 years with The Boeing Company.


On April 29, 1961, Leo married Judith von Merveldt of Wichita. He is survived by his wife, Judy of 60 years; daughters Debra Sanders, Diane (Tom) Evans; son Jeffrey; brothers Alvin and Eugene; sister Jane (Tom) Bailie; grandsons Devin, Jared and Jack. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert, Gerald, Ernest; and sisters Alice Claven and Dorothy Dix.


Rosary will be 10:00 am and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.,Tuesday, November 30th at St Joseph Catholic Church, Wichita. He will be laid to rest immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.
