Lee Roy Haynes

Lee Roy Haynes, 89, retired Funeral Director, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his daughter Desmond's home in Edmond, Oklahoma following a brief illness. Lee Roy was born in Gate, Oklahoma to Cecil and Viola Usher Haynes. He lost his father at an early age and Jesse Frazier raised Lee Roy, his brother and sisters, moving them to Wichita after the Dust Bowl. After graduating from North High School, he attended Friends University. On February 11, 1950, he and Phyllis Brewer were married. Lee Roy chose his career as a funeral director with Culbertson Mortuary. Lee Roy took pride in his business and relished the many friends he made during his years in business. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member at Rolling Hills Country Club and enjoyed playing at Sims Golf Course in his later years. He was a member of the Midian Shrine, Touchdowner, and Jesters, helping to earn money for the Shriner's Children's Hospitals. He especially enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren to the Shrine Circus every year. A family visitation will be held from 6-8pm Friday, June 30 at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca. Funeral Service: 10am Saturday, also at the mortuary with burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He leaves his daughter, Desmond Carpenter (Dean) and son Charles Haynes; grandchildren, Andrew Carpenter (Andrea), Matthew Carpenter, Rachel Carpenter, Kevin Haynes, Travis Haynes, Melanie Carlson (Brian); great-grandchildren, Conner and Madison Carpenter, Aiden and Logan Carlson; sisters, Donna Faye Pearce (Ken), Carolyn Sue Read (Ray); many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
