Leah Lorraine Beirne Rasmussen, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71 on October 27, 2025, at Via Christi (St. Francis) Hospital.
Born on June 2, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas, Leah was the daughter of Dale and Betty (Watson) Miller. A proud resident of Wichita, she cherished her hometown and lived in the same house where she was born. Leah graduated from West High School in 1972, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey filled with love, family, and dedication to her work.
On June 14, 1991, Leah married Dennis Rasmussen in Watertown, South Dakota. Their union was a source of joy and stability, and together they nurtured a family that would become Leah's pride and joy. Leah dedicated 17 years of her career to Dillons Grocery Store, where she worked as a Bakery Fryer, known for her warmth and commitment to her role.
Leah had a profound love for animals, often surrounded by her many fur babies, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her home was a welcoming place filled with laughter, love, and a spirit of kindness that touched all who crossed her path.
Leah is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis; her older brother, Gary Miller, and wife, Karen, of Wichita; her older sister, Bentina Scales, of Long Beach, Washington; and a loving family that includes her son by Dennis, Jamie Rasmussen, and daughters, Samantha Catron and husband, Sean, and Heather Rasmussen, all of Wichita. She also leaves behind six grandsons and five granddaughters, along with two great-granddaughters, who will carry her memory in their hearts for years to come.
Leah is preceded in death by her brother, Steven "Eric" Miller, who passed away in 1974; her mother, Betty Jo Miller, who passed away in 1984; her father, Dale B. Miller, who passed away in 1987; and her son, Jon P. Beirne, who left us in 2011.
In honoring Leah's life, her funeral services will be held at Calvary Chapel Wichita, located at 2161 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS, at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 13, 2025. The family invites attendees to dress casually and enjoy snacks and refreshments as they gather to celebrate her life. A short service will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, 1208 N. College St., Winfield, KS, at 1:00 pm.
Viewing will take place on Wednesday, November 12, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Culbertson Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita, KS. Leah Lorraine Beirne Rasmussen will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her family and friends.
