Lawrence Sanchez

Derby – Sanchez, Lawrence “Larry”, age 86, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. Visitation 10-5 Thursday at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby. Rosary 7pm Thursday; funeral Mass 10am Friday both at St. Mary Faith Center, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby. Larry served with the 782nd Tank Battalion in WWII. After his military service he completed his Bachelor’s Degree at NWOSU, followed by a Master’s degree at WSU. Following college he played semi-pro baseball for several years before retiring as a school administrator. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Antonia Sanchez; siblings, Mary Ward, Bertha Martinez, Elsie Hoedebeck, Jose G. Sanchez and Trinidad Sanchez. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jennie Sanchez; children, Jose L. (Jamie) Sanchez, Christina (Ron) Chronister and Vicki Sanchez; grandchildren, Chad, Blake and Brett Sanchez, Isabell, Parker and Sophia Chronister; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials have been established with the St. Mary Faith Center Building Fund and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
