Laura Jane Underwood

Laura Jane (Hill) Underwood, aged 90, passed away November 23, 2024.

She was a life-long, faithful Christian, and was multi-talented as an expert needle crafter, seamstress, knitter and crocheter, gardener, and cook. She was married 64 years to her husband, a USMC Officer. She supported him as a Marine Corps wife for nearly 30 of those years, through multiple deployments and cross-country moves. Her Christian faith was her priority, followed by her immense love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Howard), oldest son (Kevin), her parents and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Hancock (Stan), her son, Kirt Underwood (Kathy), daughter-in-law (Elaine)Underwood, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service will be Monday, December 9 at 11 am at Smith Family Mortuary in Mulvane with interment at 2 pm at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield. Family visitation is on Sunday December 8 from 2-4pm.
