Laura P. Petre

Laura P. (Larsen) Petre, age 79, passed away August 9, 2013. No visitation. Funeral service 2pm Tuesday at Smith Mortuary, Derby. Born November 29, 1933 in Buffalo Center, IA. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Axel and Frances Larsen of Ottumwa, IA. Surviving is her husband, Richard Petre of Derby; daughters, Lynn Swift of Lynchburg, VA and Connie Petre of Billings, MT; sons, Scott Petre of Lees Summit, MO and Todd Petre of Wichita; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Laura was a graduate of Ottumwa Iowa High School in 1951, and went on to graduate from Iowa Business Success College of Ottumwa in 1952. Richard and Laura were married in 1953 and enjoyed an Air Force career that spanned 27 years. She traveled with her husband to various locations in the United States and especially loved the assignments in Spain and Germany. She loved her pets dearly and enjoyed bird watching. Laura was a wonderful person who touched all of our lives, and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N.
