Lana was born to William and Faye Brown in Neosho, MO. She grew up there and graduated from Neosho High School. She attended Southwest MO State University in Springfield, MO. It was there she met her husband, Gene Starkey.
She was employed in various professions. She worked several years as a head teller at Commerce Bank of Derby, KS. She was later employed by Sedgwick County DMV. She then worked as an administrator for Sedgwick County Court Trustees, from which she retired.
Her husband was a military pilot and in the Army Reserve. She was very proud to be a military wife and a strong supporter of the armed forces. She loved traveling and exploring new places. They were fortunate to take many adventures around the world. She also enjoyed quiet weekends at local lakes, especially when they could go boating.
Lana loved animals, especially doggies. She was a Happy Dog Mom to Angus, Molly, Farley, Ben and Buddy Lee.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene; parents William and Faye Brown; sister Anita Ray.
She is survived by children, Robin (Jim) Alberts of Honolulu, HI; Scott Starkey of Bucklin, KS; two grandchildren.
