Kenneth Joseph Sherbon

Kenneth J. Sherbon, 75, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026. He was born December 15, 1950 to Elmer and Margaret Sherbon in Wichita.

It was in Wichita that Kenny began what would become a dedicated 44-year career with Cargill. His work with the company eventually took him to Friona, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Janie. The two were united in marriage on January 26, 1980, beginning a wonderful journey together.

An avid sports fan, Kenny loved golfing, fishing, and following his favorite teams. But above all else, his absolute favorite events to watch were those played by his sons and grandsons. Nothing brought him more pride or joy than cheering on his family from the sidelines.

Preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Kenneth; and half-siblings, Lloyd, Lois, and Darlene.

Survivors include his wife, Janie; children, Kenneth "Jerry" (Crysta) Sherbon and William (Shelby) Sherbon; grandchildren, Kenneth "Lee", Sawyer, Wyatt, and Wade Joseph; brother, Gerald (Wanda) Sherbon; and half-sisters, Loretta and Mary.

Visitation with family is 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with a 7:00 pm Rosary, both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N Rock Road. Funeral Mass is 10:00 am Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2300 E Meadowlark Rd, Derby, KS 67037. Graveside service is 2:30 pm Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Bovine Cemetery, Bovine, Texas.
