Pray, Kenneth Dale “Kenny,” 88, died Sunday, January 12, 2014, in hospice care at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, of complications from a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born August 16, 1925, in Wichita to Jerucia Irene (Platter) and Lehman F. Pray. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed at Boeing, and later, Watkins, Inc., where he retired in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, baking, gardening, watching baseball, and chatting and spending time with his many dear friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Virgil (Barbara); sister Rose (Jack) Bird; wife Eva Mae. Survivors include wife Dorothy; daughter Amy (Tim) Schoon of Iowa City, IA; stepdaughters Karen (Dale) Roehrman and Anne (Barry) Smith of Wichita; stepson Mark (Sarah) Burton of Holiday Island, AR; sister Madeline Bridwell of Wichita; nephew Warren (Becky) Bird of Dacono, CO; grandchildren Lisbeth Hinderliter, Michael Roehrman, Brianne Becker, Crystal Merritt, Jeremie Hill, Jonathan Burton, Jennifer Burton, Henry Schoon; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation 1-8 p.m. (family present 4-7) Wednesday, January 15, at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday, January 16, at First Presbyterian Church, 324 N. Baltimore, Derby. Interment to follow at Mulvane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market St.,Wichita, KS 67202.
