Wilson, Kelly J. Born 7/31/55 & passed away 6/29/17 at KS Soldiers Home in Fort Dodge, KS. After suffering a fall in October 2000 which left him paralyzed, Kelly held on, and, like the proverbial cat, he seemed have nine if not more lives! Our family wishes to thank the Veterans Administration for the wonderful medical care they gave him through the years. Kelly is preceded in death by his father Frank Wilson. He is survived by his mother, Florence Wilson, sister Marsha Allen (Bob), Derby, brother Kent (Ann), brother Bret both of Wichita and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Kelly graduated from Derby High School in 1973, served in the US Army, then attended Wichita State University & the University of New Orleans graduating in 1987, where he studied art & was the cartoonist for the university paper & other publications. He was a gifted artist, cartoonist, & had a passion for fine art & all things New Orleans. Visitation 4-5:30 and rosary at 5:30 at Smith Family Mortuary in Derby KS on 10 July 2017. Celebration of Life to follow at Community Room in Derby Public Library, 1600 Walnut Grove, Derby, KS. In lieu of flowers, the Kelly J. Wilson Memorial is established with the Derby Community Foundation, PO Box 372, Derby, KS 67037 in support of veteran causes.
