Kathleen Marie “Kathy” (Dinkel), Blake, of Haysville, age 56, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Rosary 12:30 PM Saturday, with Memorial Mass following at 1 PM, St. Mary Faith Center, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby. Kathy was born in Hays, KS, July 21, 1955 to Fred and Catherine “Katie” (Flax) Dinkel. She grew up in Ellis, KS, graduating from Ellis High School in 1973. She married Steven George Blake, on July 24, 1976 at St. Mary’s Church in Ellis. They moved to Burlington, IA, and had four children. Kathy loved cooking in the food service industry, including the Belle Plaine and Derby School districts, and at Deb’s Café at McConnell Air Force Base. Kathy loved to ride their Harley Davidson. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Riders, Post 408 in Derby/Haysville, and the Kansas Patriot Guard. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mike and Fred Jr.; and sister, Bernice. Survivors include her husband, Steve, sons, Aaron, Derby, Eric (Diane), Kenneth (Sabrina), all of Belle Plaine; daughter, Dawn (Aaron) Sturgeon, Belle Plaine; brothers, Harold Dinkel, Fred Dinkel, Steven Dinkel, and Chester Dinkel, all of Ellis, Henry Dinkel, Sharon Springs, and Edward Dinkel, Assaria; sisters, Virginia Weigel, Eufaula, OK, Marilyn Denning, of Colby, Helen Fischer, Vera Haver, Marjorie Mickelson, and Bernadette Dinkel, all of Ellis; ex-husband, Darrell Willey, of Salina, 9 grandchildren and 50 nieces and nephews.
