Katherine Elaine Taylor

KATHERINE ELAINE PLATT-TAYLOR of Derby, Ks., was born July 8, 1955 in Iola, Ks. She passed August 11, 2026.

Kathy devoted her all to her daughter Kristina, and grandson Tyler (“HER WORLD”) as she would tell everyone. It didn’t matter if it was taking Kristy lunch at work; going out with Kristy and Tyler to eat every Thursday or just catch up with Tyler at his place and listen to him play his guitar while she strummed right along with him on her air guitar, it didn’t matter to her what it was she was right there.

Kathy loved being outside in the sun; and always loved having her toes in the sand if there was any around her. Her entire house was decorated with a beachy theme and she would say, “it made her feel like she was on the beach” in her own home. She always loved getting together with the families and always was the life of the party, she always brought her own straw for her Coors Light and the mountains had to be blue.

After graduating from Campus High School in 1973, Kathy started her career at Vulcan Materials for 21 years; and then moved on to work for USPS for several years following before retiring.

She is preceded in death by her father, Emmett Leon Platt (Shorty); mother Dixie Louise Platt; and step-son Brent Taylor.

She is survived by her husband Steve Taylor; daughter Kristina Logsdon (Jeff) of Derby; Grandson Tyler Atherton of Wichita; Brother David Platt (Vonnie) of Derby; Sister Sheryl Shain (Larry) of Derby and many loving nieces; nephews; and great-nephews and of course we can’t forget her many fur grandbabies.

There will be no services.
