Derby - Koker, June Shirley
97, passed away Friday, November 15th, 2024. She was born June 8th, 1927 to Louis Charles Gilde and Theresa Albrecht in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Romans 12:9 is titled Love in Action. June displayed many of the qualities to her family, her friends, and people she would meet. Like her Dad and Brother, she loved to talk to people at the store, in the neighborhood, and after church. She found her way to serve others as her Dad and Brother had done, each in their own way. It seemed like June was always almost the last person to leave the church after services as she was busy visiting with, catching up with, and encouraging everyone she would find. June loved to tell people that she was blessed with good health, and she gave God the glory and praise. She was active in many circles and bible studies at Faith Lutheran Church. June taught Sunday School at Faith Lutheran Church, and she would share Jesus to young children that she would baby sit. For many years she was a prayer leader at Faith Lutheran Church; so she continued with her desire to reach people at any time through the week not just after services. June loved to listen to the Lutheran Hour on the radio, and she faithfully read her Portals of Prayer. We will miss her dearly, but we will see her again in Heaven when we will all worship and glorify God!
In Nehemiah 8:10 it says, “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”June definitely embodied this scripture like no one else. She had an ingratiating smile and an infectious laugh. Every time the family got together she would tell us about her dad. He loved to tell jokes, but he always forgot the punch line. This made everyone laugh even harder. June had the heart and spirit of a child. She loved to play games with the family. We will strive to imitate her childlike faith. We Love and Miss you mom!
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick Koker; brother, Louis Gilde Jr
June is survived by her children, William Charles (Mary Ann) Koker, Linda (Randy) Myers; grandchildren, Alexandra, Allyson
