Juanita Kay Owens

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Juanita Owens, who died peacefully on April 10th, 2024 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 80.

Juanita was born on July 27th, 1943 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Charley and Gladys (Fassautt) Smith. She grew up with two sisters and later met her beloved husband Richard in Blackwell.

Juanita is survived by her three sons and spouses Warren and Julie Owens, Kevin Owens, and Justin and Amy Owens, her grandchildren Ryan Owens and Jordan Bird, son-in-law William Bird, and great grandchildren, Korie Bird, Charlie Bird, and Sammie Bird.

She is preceded by her beloved husband Richard Owens, and her parents Charley and Gladys Smith.

Juanita was a kind and compassionate wife, mother, and friend who was proud of all her life’s accomplishments, greatest and small. Her love of flowers was abundant and evident in her beautiful gardens. She spent many years sewing and crafting. Juanita will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family held a private celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas Humane Society or the Lupus Foundation of America.
