Joy Ann Aukofer Dalpini

Joy Ann Aukofer Dalpini, age 68, of Derby, Registered Nurse at Via Christi Behavior Health, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita, KS. Joy lost her battle to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome after being hospitalized for 10 weeks. Joy is survived by her husband, Dan Dalpini, of Edmond, OK; step-children, Matt Dalpini, of Phoenix, AZ, and Laura Dalpini, of Wichita, KS; children, Anthony Aukofer, of Las Vegas, NV, Andrea Horvat, (Patrick), of Hamden, CT, Michael Aukofer (Jeanne Anne), of Elgin, IL; Lori Aukofer, of Wichita, KS; brothers, Bill Schultz (Pat), of Robins, IA and John Schultz (Diane), of North English, IA; sisters, Mary Ryan (Dave), of Lake Worth, FL, and Jane Anderson (Jim), of Fallon, NV; grandchildren, Kennedy Aukofer, Michael Aukofer, Samantha Horvat and Clare Aukofer. Joy received her RN degree from St. Mary of the Plains school in Wichita, and earned a Master’s Degree in Management from Friends University. Joy was a Major in the Army Reserves for 16 years serving as a nurse. Joy liked to dance and garden, but most of all she

loved her grandkids and traveled frequently to see them. Joy’s favorite trips were with her husband and siblings to Alaska and Ireland. Joy worked at Via Christi Hospital for 33 years. For the past 8 years, she worked as a House Supervisor at Via Christi Behavioral Health. In the past year, she worked primarily in the Acute Psychiatric Care Unit. Joy loved her job working with the behavioral health patients. Joy also worked with veterans at the Veterans Hospital Behavior Health outpatient services. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 1-7 PM, with the rosary beginning at 7 PM, Smith Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville, KS. Funeral Mass will be 2 PM Thursday, April 25, 2013 at St. Mary Faith Center, 2300 E Meadowlark, Derby, KS.
