DERBY - Roman, Joseph Anthony,

age 67, loving husband, dad and papa, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016. Joe was born July 5, 1948 in Wichita, to Tony and Jerri Roman. He served his country in the US Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. Joe retired from Spirit and had formerly worked at Boeing. Visitation will be 1-8 PM Monday, January 18, with family receiving friends 5-7 PM, Smith Mortuary 1415 N Rock Rd., Derby. Recitation of the Rosary 9:30 AM Tuesday, January 19, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, both at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by an infant brother, Richard. Survivors include his wife, Clem; sons Ian Roman, of San Diego, CA and Joshua Roman, of Derby; daughter, Jan Resendez (Jeremy), of Derby; brother, Michael Roman (Marsha), of Piedmont; sisters, Cheryl Weaver (Clay), Antonia Martin (David), all of Derby, and Rita Sumner (Jim), of Wichita; grandchildren, Angelius and Holden Roman, Christian, Maliyah, Scarlett, Isaiah and Jadyn Resendez. Memorials have been established with St. Mary Catholic Church, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby, KS 67037 and VFW Post 7253, 101 S. Baltimore, Derby, KS 67037. View tributes at smithfamilymortuaries.com
