Jordan Roberts

September 16, 1987 — September 30, 2024

Jordan Christopher Roberts “Uncle JoJo” was born on September 16, 1987. He passed away on September 30, 2024. Jordan became progressively sick over the weekend prior to his passing. He had a bacterial infection that turned sepsis very quickly. He is now in the arms of Jesus.

At a very young age, Jordan started playing baseball and became an amazing left-handed pitcher. Jordan had a love for all sports but mostly baseball. Jordan also had a passion for music and would share his favorite songs with family and friends. He taught himself to play the acoustic and electric guitars. He had played for the Manhattan Christian College Worship Team. Jordan was a 2006 Douglass High School graduate and attended Manhattan Christian College and Butler County Community College.

Jordan worked for the Derby Recreation Commission as a Maintenance Technician. He took great pride in the appearance of the multitude of baseball and soccer fields. Prior to the DRC he worked for the Douglass Schools as a substitute teacher and baseball coach. His greatest highlight as a coach was going from a 4-10 losing record to placing first at Regionals and then on to placing fourth at State. Along with substituting and coaching, he was the Douglass Recreation Commission Director.

He loved his family fiercely, but we all knew his nieces and nephews were the apple of his eye. He would send his nieces and nephews their first Lego set at 18 months and they were guaranteed to receive another set on their birthdays and at Christmas.

Jordan is survived by his parents Russel and Mary (Wright) Flippo and Christopher Roberts; sisters Emily Jones (Grant), Katie Flippo (Brendan), Allison Edwards (Jacob) and brother Carson Roberts (Lilyanne); grandparents, Lyla Flippo and Marjorie Roberts; nieces Mackenzie and Sawyer Edwards and nephews Cooper Edwards and Briggs Jones; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack Flippo, David Roberts and Sam and Betsy Wright.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th at 2:00PM at the First Christian Church in Douglass. Burial will be at the Douglass Cemetery. Over the years, Jordan had become an avid Atlanta Braves fan. In honor of his passion for baseball, we encourage everyone to wear their favorite baseball shirt to the service.

Memorials in his name have been established with the Derby Recreation Commission Baseball Program, 801 E. Market, Derby KS 67037 and Douglass High School Baseball Program, 921 E. First St., Douglass KS 67039.
