Haysville – Moyer, Johnny Runkle, age 85, passed away March 18, 2011 with his wife by his side. He was born April 19, 1925, the fourth of six children, to Ernest O. Moyer and Edith Pearl (Runkle) Moyer of Fort Scott, KS. Johnny was a WWII veteran having served in the 17th, 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions from 1943-1947. He was a 37 year employee of the Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita, having worked as an aircraft mechanic in the modification shop and flight line. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David and Donald; sisters, Virginia Young and Helen Hall. Johnny is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Moyer; sons, Glen of Houston, TX and Lonny (Karen) of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Glen Jr., Jacquelynn, Rebecca, and Sean; great-grandchildren, Trysten and Isaac; sister, Dorothy Hall of Woodland, CA. Visitation 1-8pm Tuesday, March 22; funeral service 10am Wednesday, March 23, both at Smith Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville. Burial service 10am Thursday, March 24 at Fort Scott National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, KS. In lieu of flowers memorials to Home Health of Kansas, Hospice 7607 E.
