John Raymond Truex

Truex, John Raymond III, 62, retired postman, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013. Visitation 1-5 pm Thursday, at Smith Mortuary 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Recitation of the Rosary 7 pm Thursday, at St. Mary Faith Center, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby. Funeral service 10 am Friday at St. Mary Faith Center. John loved KU Basketball and was an all-around sports fan. Since retirement, John enjoyed spending time with his family, driving for the Derby Dash, and delivering papers for the Eagle. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith; brother Robert, and sister Sandra Kopoev, and son-in-law Kyle Phelps. Survived by wife Lori; children John Truex IV, Jason (Heidi) Truex, Katie Ring, Cristi Phelps, Tessa (Bobby) Ring; grandchildren Austin, Travis, Tyler, Colby Adelaide, Trevor, and Lakyn; siblings William (Ann) Truex, Carol (Steve) Williams, sister-in-law Mary Ann Truex, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with St. Mary Faith Center Building Fund and Derby Dash, 611 N. Mulberry Rd. #100, Derby, KS 67037.
