John Martin Meyer

John Meyer, 87, WWII Marine Veteran and retired Boeing crane operator of 38yrs. passed away May 3, 2014. John was awarded the Silver Star and received a Purple Heart for his distinguished service on Iwo Jima. Visitation Tuesday 1-8pm; family present 6-8pm, with Funeral 10am. Wednesday, May 7, both at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Oatville, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57yrs, Eileen; parents, Abe and Johanna; brother, Marinus “Sonny” Meyer; sister, Virginia Carter. John is survived by his children, David J. (Jeanne) Meyer, Janice I. (Royce) Linden, Kenneth M. (Jamie) Meyer; siblings, Abe C. (Christine) Meyer, Nellie Hall; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
