75, died peacefully, August 12, 2020, surrounded by his family. John was born, November 18, 1944 to John William and Emma Mahlandt. He had one brother, Charles Mahlandt, and one sister, Frieda Dayton, all whom preceded him in death. John was a longtime teamroper, coach of his kids sports teams. John loved to fish, camp and go hunting. John followed his kids and grandkids in whatever activities they did and never missed a game. John worked at Pepsi-Co and eventually went to work at the Boeing company for 34 years where he retired from in 2003. John is survived by his wife of the home, Sharon; 3 children, Mike (Janey) Mahlandt of Rock, KS, David (Jackie) Mahlandt of Atlanta, KS, and Penny (Fred) Sheetz of Udall, KS; grandchildren, Levi (Chetta) Mahlandt, Dallas (Caleb) Melton, Paislee Mahlandt, Marissa (Elliot) McNelly, and Dylan (Audrie) Rippey; great-grandchildren, Kynlee and Sterling Mahlandt, and Emmett McNelly; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday, August 17, 2020. Funeral service is 10 am Tuesday, August 18, 2020, both at Smith Family Mortuary, Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Three Wooden Crosses Cowboy Church, 5118 SW 100th St, Augusta, KS 67010.
