Derby, KS – Kozicki, John Joseph, 84, passed away on October 27, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1941, to John “Pike” and Martha Kozicki in Green Bay, Wisconsin where he was raised. He attended Premontre High School and subsequently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in History.
John met his future wife, Evie, on her 18th birthday when he saw her across the room at a local Green Bay venue called “The Prom”. They married in 1964 and moved to Detroit when John accepted a sales position with Butler Paper Company, eventually moving with the company to Derby, KS in 1979. In the early 1990’s, John partnered to open Old Towne Paper/Timber Creek Paper for the remainder of his career.
John was a life long Green Bay Packers fan, attending many home games over the years, including the “Ice Bowl” in 1967. He was very active outside of work, spending many hours with his family ice skating, sledding, skiing, swimming, snowmobiling, bike riding, and lots of trips back and forth to Wisconsin. John also thoroughly enjoyed going “off the grid” each summer for his yearly fishing trip to Canada with his father.
John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jelane.
He is survived by Evelyn “Evie” Kozicki, who was honored to be his wife for 60 years; daughters, Michelle (Jim) Anderson, Stacy Kozicki, and Julie (Jared) Baker; grandchildren, Jacob (Lauren), Riley (Scotty), Journey, Paige, and Jaryn; great-grandchildren Dorothy and Emersyn; siblings, Beverly (Tom) Loch and Peggy (Fran) Neis; and nephews Jeff and Scott.
Funeral mass to be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Green Bay, WI on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 12pm. Arrangements will be provided by Pfotenhauer Funeral Homes, Green Bay, WI.
