John C. Birch

John "Jack" C. Birch.,age 89, WWII Navy Veteran, passed away March 7, 2016. Jack was a long time member of the Lions Club, where he received many awards, along with being the past president from 1978-79. After retirement from Boeing, Jack dedicated many hours of service to the Derby Senior Center. Visitation 1-8pm, Friday, March 11th, family present 5-7pm at Smith Mortuary-Derby, 1415 N. Rock Rd. Funeral service 10am Saturday, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1602 Chet Smith Ave. Derby, 67037. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Philis Birch; brother; Toby Birch; sister, Jill Hebbron. He is survived by his wife; Phyllis of Derby; daughters, Kimberly Birch (Mark E. Huegel) of Charles City, IA, Melodie (Charles) Heverin of Rose Hill; 4 sisters–in-law and their husbands; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established with the Derby Senior Center 611 N. Mulberry, Derby.
