Joan Lane Shaffer, 96, passed away in the early hours of December 1st, 2024 in Albany, Oregon. She was born on October 1st, 1928 to Ott & Eva Beatrice Lane. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1946.
Joan was married to Fred O. Shaffer on January 26, 1957 in Liberty, Missouri. In addition to making their home in Belle Plaine, they traveled & moved to several different locations including Singapore for Fred’s career with Meadow Gold Ice Cream. Joan was an avid reader & loved playing cards. She & Fred were members of the Good Sam camping organization & they loved to travel. She was a member of the Belle Plain Baptist Church until she moved to Oregon in 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ott & Eva (Beatty) Lane; Husband Fred Shaffer; Siblings, Pete Lane & Genevieve Morton; Daughter Cheryl Coker
Joan is survived by her son, Randy (Laura) Shaffer; Grandchildren, Christin (Scott) Feller, Colin (Julie) Coker, Corey (Kathy) Coker, Jana (Justin) Stockton, Nick (Nikki) Shaffer, & Jeff (Hannah) Shaffer; 14 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ott & Eva (Beatty) Lane; Husband Fred Shaffer; Siblings, Pete Lane & Genevieve Morton; Daughter Cheryl Coker.
Graveside service is 2:00pm Saturday, April 5 at the Belle Plaine Cemetery, Belle Plaine, Kansas.
