Jimmy D. Harper, 68, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Visitation 1-8 Friday, family receiving 6-8 at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Funeral service 1 pm Saturday, at The Wichita Federal Courthouse, 401 North Market, Wichita. Due to security, cell phones are not permitted at service. Jimmy was a Federal Court Reporter, and owner of Harper Court Reporting since 1980. Jim was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and a proud Texan who loved the Lord. Jim’s family was his life. All of his free time was spent with Kay, the love of his life, at children’s and grandchildren’s events, watching the Cowboys play, tinkering with his Impala, and enjoying his music by the pool. Jimmy will be remembered by all as a fun-loving, sincere, caring man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lucille Harper; in-laws John and Irene Morris; brother Eugene; and sisters Shirley and Patsy. Survived by devoted wife, Kay; children Stacy (Razz) McCarty, Lael (Kyle) Humphrey, Heather (Jeremiah) Carns; grandchildren Seth (Heather) Elliott, Cole (Stephanie) Elliott, Harper Scofield, Harlee McCarty, Mason McCarty, Hank Scofield, Ashtyn Carns, Holt Humphrey, and Cash Carns; brothers- and sisters-in law Jerry Jackson, Eddie and Billie Morris, Jana and Lawrence McDermett, Don and Sherry Morris, and many loving nieces and nephews.
