Jimmie Lee Ross, 91, of Wichita, KS, went home to be with the Lord on November 19, 2020. Jimmie was born November 6, 1929 to Jesse and Cora Ross, in Liberal, Missouri. Jimmie served in the US Air Force as a radio-teletype operator. He was a salesman throughout his career working for Litwins and KMDO radio in Fort Scott, KS then on to KSEK radio and JC Penney, in Pittsburg, KS, until moving to Wichita, KS where he later retired from JC Penney. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He served as a leader in the Boy Scouts, PTA and the local church. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol; sons, David (Becky) Ross, Douglas; daughter, Deborah (Karry) Hollis; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” A. Haynes, Leta (Charles) Hull; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse G. Ross and Cora L. Ross; brothers, Jesse G. Ross, Jr., Don E. Ross, Richard A. Ross; sisters, Caroline A. Hessenflow, Mary Lois Sise, Helen E. Lett; daughter, Delynda J. Ross. A celebration of his life will be held at 9:30 am Tuesday, November 24, at First Baptist Church, 125 S. Delos, Haysville, KS. Later that day, a graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm at Highland Park Cemetery, 2025 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the First Baptist Church, 125 S. Delos, Haysville, KS 67060 for their youth group. Smith Mortuary, Haysville is in charge of arrangements.
