Jerry Dean Honn, born February 14, 1938, in El Dorado, Kansas to Milton and Edna Honn, died Sunday, August 27, 2023.
He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era, he was stationed in Thule, Greenland.
Jerry worked many jobs and learned many skills throughout his life. At different times he owned and operated two businesses: Fashion Interiors in Salina, Kansas and Sharpshooter Blade Sharpening in Wichita, Kansas. His skill and love of woodworking led him to become the manager of the Woodcraft Shop in the Skills Development Center at McConnell Air Force Base. There he took great pride in sharing his knowledge by instructing woodworking design and development. He retired from civil service in 2005.
After retirement Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, RV traveling, going to the movies and listening to audiobooks.
Jerry is preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother Delbert “Lyle”, his son Anthony “Tony”, and his granddaughter Celinda.
Jerry is survived by Sharon “Sharry”, his wife of 63 years, daughters Lori Honn and Robin (Danny) Farlow, grandson/adopted son David (Crystal), grandsons Adam (Melissa) and Connor (Natasha) and granddaughters Leslie (Jose) and Brooke (Mike). He is also survived by his beloved great grandchildren Matthew, Maddox, Ember, Sora, and Ethan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2nd at 1:00 pm in Smith Mortuary at 1415 North Rock Road in Derby, Kansas. Interment will follow for the immediate family with a brief ceremony at El Paso Cemetery at 700 East Kay Street in Derby. Everyone is invited to Danny and Robin Farlow’s home to join with the family to celebrate Jerry’s life after the services, at 1610 East Kay Street in Derby.
