65, passed away Wednesday, July 10th, 2024. She was born August 5th, 1958 to Kenneth Portz and LaVonne Alberts Portz in Hastings, Nebraska.

She met the love of her life while a Junior at Campus High School. Through letters and visits to her while she attended Pittsburg University, their love grew. They married in a beautiful ceremony in 1979, beginning a lasting love, and 45 years of marriage. Together they built their forever home in Haysville, KS and started a family. Many, many wonderful memories were created over the years! She loved her family dearly, and with every once of her heart. Her legacy will carry on forever, reminding us that we control our attitudes and choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Bonnie Portz

Jennifer is survived and missed by her loving husband, Danny Mitchell; children, Amanda (Brandon) Minnick, Jacob (Jordan) Mitchell, Ashley Mitchell, Nick (Sienna Kamps) Mitchell; siblings, Steve (Susie) Portz, Lisa (Eric) Grampp; Some of her greatest joy came from her 6 grandchildren, Emma, Brooklyn, Jordan, Luke, Harper, and Landon.

Visitation: Sunday, July 14th, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Smith Mortuary, Derby 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Rosary: Monday, July 15th, 2024, at 6:00 pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 16th, 2024 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church 1830 W. Grand Ave. Haysville, Kansas 67060. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Kansas Humane Society.
