Jeanne Marie McElroy Cardwell

Jeanne Marie McElroy Cardwell, 82, passed away Sunday, March 15th 2026.

Jeanne worked for Southwestern Bell in Wichita where she was top in sales for several years, and with her husband at Larry's Appliance in Mulvane..

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Bernadine (Carlson) Hare and husband of just shy of 43 years, Larry Marten McElroy.

Survivors include her daughter Sonja (Brian) Cusick of Mulvane, Grandsons Brett (Codi) Cusick of Mulvane, Blake (Kaylie) Cusick of Mulvane, and Brent (Jessica) Cusick of Mulvane, and eight great grandchildren (Brett) Branch and Reed, (Blake) Emalee , Everleigh and Emmett, (Brent) Joey, Jadyn and Jagger, Brother Larry (Mary) Hare of Mulvane, Donn (Nancy) Hare of Udall.

Jeanne is also survived by Kenneth Cardwell, her husband of 15 years, his children Kevin (Cheryl) Cardwell of Mulvane, and Bruce (Brenda) Cardwell of Mulvane. His children Tim (Nancy) Cardwell and Debbie Cardwell, all of Derby, preceded her in death. She is survived by Ken's grandchildren Cara (Todd) Leeds of Mulvane, Amy (Landon) Branine of Mulvane, Autumn (Stryder) Blackburn of Lawrence, Brock & Tanner Cardwell-Tieben of Maize, Jeremy (Kelly) Cardwell-Parvin of Georgia, Melissa (Josh) Neff of Mulvane, Danielle (Viet) Phan of Florida; Ken's great-grandchildren Fielder & Saige Blackburn, Nora Neff, Rory & Isla Phan, Anna & Adam Leeds, Hali & Lane Branine.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4th at Smith Family Mortuary, 501 S.E Louis Blvd, Mulvane KS 67110. Burial will follow at Littleton Cemetery, Mulvane.

There will be lunch provided and a celebration of life at Sonja and Brian’s big metal building at 7120 East 111th St South, Mulvane, KS 67110. In lieu of flowers, memorials are established with Ronald McDonald House, 10010 NW 70th Ct, Kansas City, MO 64152; Gracepoint Church, 9035 W.Central, Wichita, KS 67212; or Edward Jones for a college fund for Jeanne’s eight great-grandchildren.
