Derby - Hagbom, Jean Lamont
81, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born March 11, 1942, to Jack Rafferty and Lorraine Rafferty Doe in Redmond, Oregon.
As a child, Jean's father Jack, served in the Navy during WW2. Once the war was over, he moved their growing family back to their farm in North Dakota. Jean and her brothers Earl, Tom and Jerald attended a few different small-town schools. Eventually, she enrolled at Regent High, where she met and married her high school sweetheart Donald, "Donnie" Hagbom. Shortly after, they had their first child Kimberly Ellen in 1960. Donald got a job at Boeing where they began moving as a family approximately every two years. Soon after, she had their other two children Robbin Jo, 1963 in Montana, and Kelly Patrick, 1964 in Wyoming, eventually settling down in Peck, Kansas where she stated, "...and I will never move again". Jean spent all of her life loving the Lord, Jesus Christ and being a huge part of the church. One of her greatest accomplishments was her certification as a Parish Ministry Associate through the Lutheran Church. Throughout her life she was a Sunday School teacher and lead a Bible study where she made some of her closest friends. Jean loved worshipping through music as well, even learning to play the organ, piano and guitar. Music was a large part of her life and singing was one of the things she enjoyed the most. Another joy of hers was sewing. She sewed her daughter Robbin's wedding dress as well as her granddaughter Hannah's baptismal gown. She sewed everything from clothes (both her own and for dolls) to the cushions on her own kitchen chairs. Jean loved things that were beautiful, like animals and flowers. Her love of animals, especially cats, was a very prominent part of the person she was. So much so that the name most people knew her by, was her nickname, "Kitty".
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lorraine (Doe) Rafferty; husband, Donald Hagbom; daughter, Kimberly Qualheim; mother and father-in-law, Nellie and Laurence Hagbom; grandson, Erik Hagbom
