James E. "Jim" Wulz

James (Jim) E. Wulz, age 91, of Wichita, KS., passed away Monday, September 25, 2023.


James, son of Gilbert and Gretchen Wulz, was born on July 15, 1932, on a farm near Hunter, Oklahoma. Jim graduated from Northern Oklahoma Junior College in 1952, where he went on to continue his education at Oklahoma A&M, until he was drafted during his junior year of college where he was a member of the United States Army. Following two years in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas he returned to Oklahoma A&M on the GI Bill and continued his education, graduating in 1956. Following graduation, he worked to earn his private pilot's license at Oklahoma A&M. In the Spring of 1957, Mr. Wulz went to work for The Boeing Company where he retired after 35 years of service as a Program Manager for 747 Modification.


On Oct. 14, 1961, he was united in marriage to Willa (Moore) in Wichita, Kansas. Jim and Willa were married for 53 years. Following retirement, they moved to Shell Knob, Missouri in 1998, where they spent many years entertaining their loving family and friends at their home on Table Rock Lake. Mr. Wulz was an active member of the Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob as well as a member of the VFW. Jim was a published author, enjoyed fishing, boating, genealogy, horses, traveling and spending time with his loved ones.


Survivors include one son, Richard Wulz, one brother, Phillip (Arlene) Wulz of Tuttle, Okla.; two sisters, Glenda VanDusen of Norman, Okla., and Joyce Sloman of Tulsa, Okla.; two brother in laws, Howard (Margaret) Moore, of Wichita, and James Moore of Mulvane, KS.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald Wulz, one infant daughter, Susan Renee Wulz, one brother, Charles Wulz, one sister, Loella Ligon-Weeks, two sister-in laws, and one granddaughter, Stephanie Peklo (Wulz).


A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, at the Council Hill Cemetery in Peck, Kansas. Memorial Contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice Foundation, located in Wichita, KS.
