On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, James Dennis Warner, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 76.
Jim was born on December 18, 1947 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, moving to Enid, Oklahoma as a young boy. He grew up in Enid, loving cars, both working on them and driving them (fast) and hanging out with friends. And there he met Clauda, who would become the love of his life. They were married December 23, 1967.
Meanwhile, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California for boot camp. He was then sent to fight in the Vietnam War. After being injured in combat, he came home, earning both a Purple Heart and an Honorable Discharge.
Jim could fix anything without a computer chip! He evolved from a car mechanic to an electrical appliance expert to a satellite installation technician over the years. He enjoyed driving fast cars his whole life and in recent years he discovered Harleys. He also enjoyed hanging out with his family, listening to (very loud) 50’s and 60’s Rock-n-Roll, watching NASCAR, and playing pool. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Lions Club.
He is predeceased by a loving wife, Clauda (Taylor) Warner; father, Alfred James Warner; mother, Ruth Alice (Ellis) Meadows; step-father, Frank Meadows.
He is survived by two daughters, Denise (Warner) Dawson and her husband, Philip Dawson of San Diego, California; and Connie (Warner) Dotson and her husband, David Dotson of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandsons, Nathan James Dawson and Eric Glyn Dawson; two granddaughters, Samantha Kay Dotson and Danielle Ruth Dotson; and also by his sister, Freya Jean (Warner) Stewart and her husband Wayne Stewart of Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that donations be sent to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program at toysfortots.org an organization in which Jim participated and supported throughout his life.
A viewing will be held Monday, March 25 from 4 to 8 PM at the Smith Family Mortuary in Derby, Kansas. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 26 at 2 PM at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma.
