James Joseph Prosser

James Joseph "Jim" Prosser, 83, passed away September 16, 2026 in Wichita.

James was born February 7, 1943, the son of Joseph and Emma (Reif) Prosser of Hoisington, Kansas. He attended undergraduate school at Emporia State University where he met his first wife, Carol. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University where he earned his Doctorate in Education. He loved traveling, spending time with family....and ice cream.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Gene Ann Prosser; and by his siblings, Mary Jane Prosser, Allen Prosser, Joyce White and Bonnie Schremmer.

He is survived by his daughters, Jill (Chris) Deitchler and Brenna Prosser (Tony); grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew), Savana (Dixon), Jessica (David) and five great-grandchildren; brother, Steve Prosser; sisters, Lois (Jerald) McClain, Celeste Meitner, Rita (Lou) Solorio, Nona (Bob) Robinson, Nancy Yakshaw, Patti (David) Myers, Annie (Jon) Holmes and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be 10 am to 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita, Kansas 67213. A time of sharing will begin at 11:30 am following visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
