James Albert Curry, 88, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017. He was born February 5, 1929 to James and Una (Kessinger) Curry in Pratt, KS. James was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a beloved husband and loving father. He worked his way through college as a barber and became a high school teacher where he had a positive influence on thousands of young minds. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Valeda Blandin. James is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; children, Kris A. (Tim) Berger, Mark A. Curry, and Kevin T. Curry; step-children, Sheryl (Bob) Christiansen, Jeanette (Keith) Cutberth, Ronald Pollard, David (Ivy) Pollard, James Pollard, Kathryn (Rodney) Deem, and Christine (Shawn) Rankin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his dog Beau. A private memorial was held Friday, July 7, 2017 at Smith Family Mortuary. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside St., Wichita, KS 67219.
