Jack D. Nice

Jack D. Nice, 96, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 13, 2011. He was born April 18, 1915 to Oscar & Charlotte Nice near Gotebo, OK. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include 3 daughters and 1 son, Sharlene (Charlie) Hayes, Kansas City, MO, Dean (Wilma) Nice, Shawnee, KS, Sherrel (Bud) Canterberry, Derby, KS, Maribeth (Bob) Enloe, Udall, KS; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren; 4 brothers and 1 sister; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. In 1947, Jack and Mary established and operated Nice Greenhouse Flowers on North 53rd in Wichita. They sold the business in 1989. He was active in Greater Wichita Florist Association, Waco UMC, recently attending Madison Avenue UMC and Derby Church of the Nazarene, both in Derby he was also a 32nd degree Mason. His favorite past-time was growing lilies and other bulbs and bowling in leagues through age 92. Visitation 1-8 pm Monday with family receiving friends 6-8 pm, Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Funeral service 1 pm Tuesday, Derby Church of the Nazarene, 840 North Woodlawn, Derby. Memorials have been established with Alzheimer’s Association, 347 South Laura, Wichita, Kansas 67211.
