Kent Swaney

Ivan “Kent” Swaney, age 82, of Derby, formerly of Rose Hill, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023. Graveside service will be at 1 pm Saturday, April 8, at Hillcrest Cemetery (10102 E 95th St S, Derby, KS 67037). Kent was born July 19, 1940, in Belleville, Kansas. He married Elizabeth Blackwood August 26, 1962, in Belleville.

Kent was a proud Navy veteran. After serving in the military, he began working at Beechcraft (Raytheon) from where he retired after many years. He was involved in the Rose Hill community through the Lions Club and School Board and was responsible for starting the little league football and basketball programs.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Liz; parents, Ivan and Roberta Swaney; brother, Brad Swaney; and great-granddaughter, Stella Joy Swaney. Survivors include sons, Scott (Lawava) and Steve (Donna); daughter, Shelly (Scott) Weber; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
