Isaac Crawford Carter

Isaac "Ike" Crawford Carter, retired USAF MSGT, passed away at home surrounded by the love and prayers of his wife and all of his children on May 17, 2018 in Haysville, Kansas. Ike, or Crawford, as he was known to his family growing up, was born to John Leasel and Fannie Clarissa (Reynolds) Carter in Wharton, Arkansas on September 16, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leasel Hopkin Carter and Charles Theodore Carter; and sister, Lavera Rebecca (Carter) Keck. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane (Comer) Carter; two daughters, Debra Jean Denham (husband, James) and Gail Ann Jantzen (husband, Eric); two sons, Charles Murray Carter (wife Pam), and Alan Thomas Carter (wife, Kelly); two sisters, Loletta Joyce Phillips and Fannie Lorena Middleton; nine grandchildren, Ami Nicole Denham Gomes, Erin Michelle Denham Pritchard, Tyler Nathan Thompson, Clinton Lee Thompson, Ethan James Jantzen, Darcy Lianna Jantzen, Makenzy Alicia Carter, Brayden Isaac Carter, Camilla Edith Carter; five great-grandchildren, Ruby Noelle Pritchard, Oliver Henry Pritchard, Taryn Marie Thompson, Colin Lee Thompson, and Parker Clay Thompson; several nephews and nieces; and many more family members and friends. He graduated from Huntsville, Arkansas Vocational High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. As a young airman stationed at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia, he married Barbara, the love of this life, in Lakeland, Georgia on November 22, 1953. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 at McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, Kansas, after 24 years of service, which included the Korean War and Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force and working briefly at Cessna and Learjet, Ike worked in custodial and maintenance for Haysville Unified School District 261, retiring after 13 years. Funeral service: 2pm Monday, May 21, 2018, First Baptist Church, 125 Delos, Haysville, with viewing at the church 1 hour prior to service. A memorial is established with the church
