Iris Althea (Gilstrap) Varner-McDavitt, age 94, retired Sales Associate for Macy’s Department Store, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Visitation 1-8 PM Sunday and Monday, with family receiving friends 5-7 PM Monday, Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca. Funeral service 11 AM Tuesday, West Side Christian Church 1819 W. Douglas. Graveside service 2:30 PM Tuesday, Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman. Iris is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse & Ethel (Mustoe) Gilstrap; husbands, Leo “Bud” Varner and Thomas M. McDavitt; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors: sons, Harold Varner, Clifford (Linda) Varner and Lawrence (Marilyn) Varner, all of Wichita; 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
