Howard Blaine Johnson

Howard B. Johnson, 90, died peacefully surrounded by his family on February 12, 2024.

Howard and the love of his life, Ruth, shared 72 years together in a great love story. His family, as well as his friends, were the centerpiece of his life. Howard and Ruth first met at Bethany College in Lindsborg, then shared the Army life for a while before eventually settling in Wichita. His career included sales positions in the dairy business and then as a food broker. He was also an active member in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and was a huge supporter of Shocker sports (although he also cheered for K-State and KU). After retirement, Howard and Ruth enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed spending time with their grandsons and their great-grandson.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, son Kevin and his partner Cindy, daughter Kristin and son-in-law Dale, grandsons Ryan, Erik, and Michael and his wife Jacquelyn, and great-grandson Sebastian.

Visitation with his family 5-7pm Thursday, February 15 at Smith Mortuary in Derby. The funeral will be at 11:00 on Friday, February 16 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1101 N. River Blvd. in Wichita.

A memorial is established with Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
