Herbert L. Smith

Smith, Herbert L., 85, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was born July 23, 1929 to Willard and Edith (Sadler) Smith in Freeburg, IL. Herbert retired as a Tech Sergeant from the Air Force and then pioneered a church and his ministry. He was the publisher of the A Word Fitly Spoken newsletter for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 57 years, Evelyn Elaine Smith; daughters, Deborah Schonschack and Evelyn Spencer; and grandson, Joshua Newberry. Herbert is survived by his children, Lee (Teresa) Smith, Lola Townson, Patricia (David) Newberry, Stephen (Karri) Smith, and Tom (Jennifer) Smith; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation: Thursday, 6 to 8 pm. Funeral: 3 pm, Friday, August 15, 2014; both at Smith Family Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville, KS 67060.
