Helen Mercer

Wichita - Helen Mercer, 79, passed away July 22, 2025. She was born December 19, 1945, to Joseph and Ida Gerleman Hoeppli in Emporia, Kansas. Helen and Orville were married for 48 years and she is now rejoined with him and their many fur babies. Helen had a true love for all things poodles and over the years spoiled many fur babies rotten. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville Dean Mercer; brother-in-laws, Donald L. Mercer, Gerald Mercer, Larry Finuf & Tom Wilson.

Helen is survived by daughter, Deana Waltrip (Ronnie); grandchildren, Preston Waltrip (Nicole), Ashtyn Durbin (Mitch), and Chloe Waltrip; great-grandchildren, Peter Waltrip and Violet Durbin; sister and brother-in-laws, Marsha Mercer, Kay Mercer and Jim Reeves, Chuck and Wanda Stair, Clarence and Jan Mercer, Barbara Finuf, Linda Wilson, and their families; friends, Paula Lueske and many more.

Visitation: Friday, July 25, 2025, from 5-7pm at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037. Mass: 8:30am Saturday, July 26, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Church, 3313 E Grand St, Wichita, KS 67218. Interment to follow at Old Mission Cemetery, 3424 E 21st St N Wichita, KS 67208
