Harlan Ralph Ray
87 passed away peacefully Friday, April 25, 2025. Harlan was born February 18, 1938 to Jesse Moses Ray and Mary Luccretia Shaw Ray.
Harlan was born in Harrison, Arkansas; soon after moving to Canon City, Colorado where he lived through early adulthood. As a child he was active in Boy Scouts and learned to hunt. After high school he pursued a career in machining, moving to the Wichita area of Kansas with his high school sweetheart and bride, Patricia Lee Truett. Patricia and Harlan celebrated 67 years of marriage. Together with his wife, Harlan raised four children in Mulvane, Kansas. He was proud of being the grandfather to six and a great-grandfather to six. His greatest accomplishments were raising his daughters and son, founding a machining business in Mulvane and establishing Storey Creek ranch in Walsenburg, Colorado. In Colorado he spent his years raising cattle and enjoying views of the East Peak of the Spanish Mountains.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his son, Bobby, sister, Lula, and his parents, Jesse and Mary.
Harlan is survived by his daughters, Vicky (Roger) Ray-Powell, Bonnie (Larry McDonald) Humbolt, Connie (Mark) West; grandchildren, Brianna (Kevin) Swanagan, Ben (Fallon) Humbolt, Brad (Lindsey) Humbolt, Jessica West, Andrea (Bryon) Houghton, Kevin (Ashleigh) West; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Leo, Rose Swanagan; Kamden Humbolt; Axel, Luca West.
Graveside Service: 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Littleton Cemetery, Mulvane, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
