Gordon L. Smith

Gordon L. Smith, was born on January 8, 1933 to Alfred and Maude Smith in Fowler, KS. The family moved to Wichita when he was in elementary school. He graduated from North High and Friends University. Gordon was a kind and sweet soul and had a wonderful bass voice. He loved to sing in church choir, Symphony Chorus and the Singing Quakers Alumni Choir. He also loved to dance - 45 years of square dancing and 30 years of calling contra dances. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and brother Norval. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan; sons, Greg (Gail) of Bonney Lake, WA, Gil (Pam), of Wichita; granddaughters, Shelby (fiance, Ben Berry), of Wichita, Shawna Hopkins (Josh), of Overland Park. He will be missed by his family and many close friends. Private burial with family will be at Resthaven in the Friends Garden. A memorial has been established with University Friends Church, 1840 W.
